MigrantBuddie was developed during the 2026 Build for Impact Hackathon, a 2-day in-person innovation event held during the 40th Annual AAAI Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Singapore AI Research Week. The hackathon focused on applying design thinking to ideate and prototype meaningful AI solutions addressing challenges in Charity, Sustainability, and Wellness sectors. Our team chose to tackle the challenge of empowering migrant workers in Singapore by creating a comprehensive AI-powered platform that provides employment advice, contract checks, and community support.

The Problem to Solve
Migrant workers in Singapore often face challenges understanding their employment rights, verifying contract terms, and accessing reliable support. Language barriers and lack of accessible resources make it difficult for them to seek help when facing employment issues or unfair treatment.
Our Solution
MigrantBuddie is a 24/7 AI companion that bridges the gap between migrant workers and the help they need. The platform offers an AI-powered legal assistant for contract verification, multi-language support (Tamil, Bengali, Mandarin, Malay) for both voice and text interactions, a company review system for anonymous sharing of experiences, and ensures 100% privacy and confidentiality. The platform has already answered over 50,000 questions and provides round-the-clock AI support.
